Day 1 Arrival to Istanbul Welcome to your tour of Turkey! A country of great contrasts Once you arrive at Istanbul International Airport, after clearing Customs & Immigrations you will be met by our local representative and transferred to your hotel . Late in the afternoon enjoy a cruise on the Bosphorus river. This cruise takes you along the magnificent Bosphorus, the waterway separating Europe from Asia. Along the shores there is a delightfully mixture of the past and the present, as well as the grand splendour and quaint beauty of the ancient wooden villas, palaces of marble, fortresses and small fishing villages and visit of Spice Market (closed on Sundays). Overnight at hotel.
Day 2 Istanbul Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Today enjoy a half day city tour of Istanbul. Firstly we visit the magnificent Byzantine church of St Sophia, one of the finest architectural works in the world, this church has been nominated as the 8th wonder of the world by many historians. Then continue to the Blue Mosque, one of the largest mosques in Istanbul. Dating back to the 17th century, this is one of the principal adornments on the skyline of Istanbul and is also famous for its blue tiles and 6 minarets. We will also visit the Hippodrome, the former centre of sporting and political activities in Constantinople. During the visit you will be able to see the Obelisk from Egypt, the Serpentine Column from Delphi and the fountain of Willhelm II. Our final visit of the morning is to the Grand Bazaar, which in addition to its historical importance, is a bazaar that will tempt you with its rich collection of precious handmade carpets, jewellery, leather and souvenirs. Evening at leisure. Overnight at hotel.
Day 3 Istanbul - Ankara Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Morning is free at leisure. (Hotel check-out latest at 12:00hrs). Evening transfer to the train station for overnight train to Ankara. Overnight in the train.
Day 4 Ankara - Cappadocia Enjoy breakfast at the train (excluded) . Early in the morning arrival to Ankara, the capital of Turkey and one of the fastest growing cities in the world with a history that can be dated back 3000 years. Upon arrival visit the Anatolian Civilisations Museum, which also exhibits the remains of Catalhoyuk, the Neolithic village dating back to 6500 BC. Then visit the Mausoleum of Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey. After lunch at a local restaurant in Ankara, proceed to Cappadocia. Visit Agzikarahan Caravanserai en route. Evening Dinner at the hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 5 Cappadocia Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Today enjoy a half day sightseeing tour in this unique corner of the world. Visit to Pigeon Valley and the natural citadel of Uchisar, followed by Goreme Open-Air Museum, which is full of pink, rose and white tapering columns. These tall free standing cones of stone curve and twist as if pulled from earth like taffy. Others are tall like fairy chimneys. The caves were settled in the 4th century as monasteries. Visit some caves on the cliffs to see Byzantine frescoes decorating early Christian churches. Lunch at a typical restaurant of the region and visit Kaymakli Underground City; carved out of rock and completely self contained. More than 200 people lived on each of seven floors with the last one 250 feet underground. It is connected to Derinkuyu Underground City by six miles of tunnel. Drive to Pasabagi in Zelve Region and then to Avanos Village. Time for shopping. Evening Dinner at hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 6 Cappadocia - Ankara Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast drive to Ankara. Lunch en route. Arrive Ankara, check into the hotel. Overnight at hotel in Ankara.
Day 7 Departure from Ankara Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Today you will be met by our local representative at the hotel lobby for your departure transfer to the Airport.
